OhioHealth Race for a Reason April 23 and 24, 2027
The 15th annual OhioHealth Race for a Reason takes place April 23 and April 24, 2027. The two day event is hosted by the Ohio University Center for Sports Administration and Ohio University’s Valor military ministry. Registration opens November 15, 2026.
The weekend program includes seven events across the two days: a pickleball tournament and the Athens Has Heart team tricycle race on April 23; and on April 24 a triathlon and duathlon presented by the College of Health Sciences and Professions, the QuidelOrtho 5K presented by OUCU Financial, the OU ROTC mud run presented by the Ohio Army National Guard, the Pure Rock 105 XTQ 3K Walk, and a virtual race presented by the Ohio University Alumni Association.
The event raises funds for local charities, nonprofits, and student organizations. Participants are invited to identify a cause as their personal reason for taking part; ten dollars from each individual registration fee is directed to the chosen cause. The race has expanded on campus, in the Athens community, and in the surrounding area, and it encourages on campus and off campus organizations to participate in team oriented efforts that support those causes.
