About the race
Burr Oak Lodge in Glouster, Ohio, hosts trail race options that run through the Appalachian foothills and adjacent Wayne National Forest. The setting is remote; cell service may be unreliable on the drive into the park and the last stretch uses winding back roads. Lodging is available at the lodge and nearby facilities.
Distances offered:
- 26.2 Miles Marathon, single loop around Burr Oak Lake, start and finish at the lodge.
- 13.1 Miles Half Marathon, point to point on the same trails, marina to lodge.
The marathon is a single loop around Burr Oak Lake and follows sections of the Buckeye Trail and the North Country Trail. Course terrain includes hemlock ravines, sandstone ledges, rocks, roots, creek crossings and sustained hills. The route is fully marked.
The half marathon uses the same trail network in a point to point format, finishing at the lodge with a shuttle back to parked cars. Hikers are welcome and a generous cutoff allows a wide range of paces.
The event environment is low on services along the trail; participants should expect lake views, long stretches of woods, and a finish area at the lodge. Registration opens 14 December 2025 and closes 7 October 2026. Registration fees listed are $85 for the marathon and $70 for the half marathon.
