Gravel Day - Pelotonia
Gravel Day is a cycling and outdoor event held in southeast Ohio with activities centered at Snow Fork Event Center and routes through Athens County and the Baileys Trail System. The main event date is October 3, 2026, with a Friday Night Community Gathering on October 2. The weekend includes on-site camping options for tents, cars, RVs, and motorhomes.
Participants can choose from multiple looped routes and formats:
- Gravel cycling: 11 miles, 25 miles, 48 miles
- Mountain biking: 10 miles, 24 miles
- Trail Run/Hike: 3.5 mile loop at Snow Fork Event Center
Route details include elevation information: the 11 mile gravel loop gains about 900 feet, the 25 mile gravel loop gains over 1,600 feet, and the 48 mile gravel loop gains over 4,200 feet. The mountain biking options use machine-built trails with IMBA-rated green and blue sections and list approximately 1,000 feet of climbing for the 10 mile route and nearly 2,500 feet for the 24 mile route. The Trail Run/Hike is a looped course that can be completed multiple times during the open course hours.
Each Gravel Day route carries a $1,500 fundraising commitment. Routes are supported only during the official event weekend and may be adjusted by up to two miles for safety or road conditions. Event materials include an event handbook and a virtual orientation session to explain expectations and safety guidelines. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
