Pinnacle Ridge Extreme
The Pinnacle Ridge Extreme is a skyrace on the Helvellyn Massif near Patterdale. The route is 28 km long with approximately 2700 m of ascent and includes technical running, hands-on rock sections and graded scrambles. The course features five graded scrambles, knife-edge ridgelines, scree-run descents, technical single-track sections and long runnable ascents through the Glenridding Mines area.
Entries for the 2027 race open 03 October 2026. Entry fees are listed from £110 to £130 and the maximum allowed time on course is 10 hours. Entry is by pre-selection and participants must demonstrate suitable rock-climbing or scrambling experience as part of a strict vetting process.
Acceptable proof of ability includes graded scrambling of Grade 2 or above, lead climbing skills, winter climbing skills, alpine climbing skills or documented solo climbs. The organiser notes that climbing skills are a requisite to be accepted and that the race contains multiple hands-on rock sections rather than simple walking on rough ground.
The event is presented as a short-distance but technically demanding skyrace that combines steep ascent profile for its distance with exposed ridge running and rock-scrambling sections. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
