Quiet Silence - Lake Mills, WI
Quiet Silence is an evening out-and-back running event organized by TYDISH Running in Lake Mills, Wisconsin. The course is a wide, flat crushed limestone rails-to-trails with minimal technical terrain. Conditions can vary in winter; the trail is not plowed and participants may encounter clear sections, drifts, or post-holing.
Two distances are offered:
- 31 miles
- 17.5 miles
The 17.5 mile option uses a halfway turnaround where aid is available with fluids and light snacks. A drop bag can be left at that turnaround and will be returned to the start/finish area, though retrieval may be delayed. The 31 mile option uses the same turnaround and includes a full aid station with hot and cold drinks, food, a covered lit tent with chairs and heaters, and volunteers. Portable toilets will be available at the start and at the 31 mile turnaround; there is no toilet at the 17.5 mile turnaround.
Participants receive a nonmedal token for finishing. The top three men and top three women in each distance receive an additional special gift.
Event rules and gear requirements include no loud noise makers, no alcohol served by organizers, no cups at aid stations so participants must provide their own vessels, and mandatory safety gear: two rear facing lights, one forward facing red light with blinking option, and at least 10 square inches of reflective material on both front and back. These items will be checked at packet pickup.
Registration closes Dec 16. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
