Echo 136

The Echo 136 is a long-distance running event held in Whitewater, Wisconsin. The course follows a point-to-point route starting from the Rice Lake boat launch and traveling north toward CTH P. Participants navigate a variety of terrain including wide groomed trails, single-track paths, bike paths, and road connectors. The entire route is set on the Ice Age State Trail.

The event features a single distance:

  • 136 miles

Participants have a total of 55 hours to complete the course. The route involves approximately 11,148 feet of elevation gain and 10,961 feet of elevation loss. There are 10 fully stocked aid stations located along the trail at varying intervals. These stations provide water, soda, ice, electrolyte drinks, and various foods including salty snacks, candies, and warm meals. The organizers accommodate dietary preferences such as vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free, though cross-contamination for celiac requirements cannot be guaranteed.

The event follows a cupless policy, meaning no disposable cups are provided at aid stations. Runners must bring their own hydration vessels. Registration is open to individuals aged 18 and older. Pacers are permitted to join runners starting from the fourth aid station (Centennial Park), and crew members are allowed to assist at every aid station. Specialized awards are presented to the top three overall men and women, while all other finishers receive a theme-specific item rather than traditional medals or buckles. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
