Oleson Cabin Trail Races
The race starts and finishes at the historic Oleson Cabin in Whitewater, Wisconsin. All courses begin and end at the trailhead. GPS address for the trailhead is N9156 Duffin Rd, Whitewater, WI 53190.
Choose from three individual courses or the Golden Gauntlet, which combines all three loops and requires check in after each loop. Results are recorded only for the course or courses a runner completes.
Distances
- 3.5 miles Short course
- 7.0 miles Mid course
- 12.0 miles Long course
- 22.5 miles Golden Gauntlet combined option
The course uses the Ice Age Trail and is single track out and back. Courses are marked with colored flags. The short course is not very technical but requires attention. The mid course is semi technical. The long course becomes very technical toward the turnaround.
Aid stations are located at the Highway 12 road crossing, approximately miles 5 and 7, and provide water, Hammer Heed, and sweet and salty snacks. This is a cup less event so participants must bring their own reusable cup or hydration bottle. Trail shoes are recommended and a handheld hydration system or pack is advised. Portable restrooms and recycling and trash receptacles are available at the trailhead.
Parking at Oleson Cabin is limited and may depend on DNR mowing. Roadside parking with all four tires off the road is sometimes necessary and carpooling is recommended. A free craft beer token is provided to participants 21 years or older. Live music may be scheduled at select races. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
