About the race
Now in its second year, the Punk Panther Ripon Stinger is a trail event that starts and finishes in Studley Roger near Ripon. The route mainly follows the Ripon Rowel and passes wooded valleys and historic sites, including the World Heritage site of Fountains Abbey and Studley Water gardens. The course also visits the Valley of the Seven Bridges, the River Skell, St Margaret’s Church and Hackfall Woods.
Distances offered include:
- 13 miles (half marathon)
- 20 miles
- 35 miles (ultramarathon)
Climb values are listed as 750, 1,750 and 3,500 feet respectively. ITRA and UTMB points are published for the distances. The event has a minimum age of 18 and a maximum field of 200 entrants; entries open and close on published dates.
Logistics and support details are provided to competitors. Registration is at Studley Roger Village Hall and a nearby field is used for parking with a small donation requested; parking in the village is not permitted. Checkpoints offer water, soft drinks, snacks and separate vegan and gluten free options. All ultramarathon entrants receive a tracker and trail entrants may hire a tracker for a fee. A mandatory kit list applies to all distances and random kit checks are carried out on course.
