Punk Panther Dales Dazzler
Punk Panther Endurance Events stages a trail race series based around the market town of Skipton with routes that take runners onto high ground around Wharfedale. The courses travel west from Skipton to join sections of the Pennine Way and the Dales Way, passing Pinhaw Beacon, Thornton in Craven, Gargrave, Malham Tarn, Arncliffe, Starbotton, Kettlewell, Grassington, Burnsall, Barden Bridge and Embsay before returning to Skipton.
The event offers multiple distances with recorded total ascent for each course and ITRA and UTMB points assigned. Checkpoints provide water, cola, energy bars, crisps and vegan and gluten free snacks. All ultramarathon entrants receive a tracker; half marathon and 20 mile entrants can hire a tracker for £15. The 50 mile race allows a single drop bag to be transferred to the Malham Tarn checkpoint.
A mandatory kit list applies to all distances and random kit checks may be carried out on course; not carrying required kit can lead to disqualification. Support crews must avoid official checkpoints. Dogs are permitted under event rules. Finishers receive a medal and an event T shirt unless they opt out, and hot food and drinks are available at the finish. Registration is at Champions Church, Carleton Road, Skipton.
