Pitsford Water Trail Races

Pitsford Water Trail Races are fully marked and marshaled trail events held at Brixworth Country Park, Northampton Road, Brixworth NN6 9DG. The event offers two distances and uses trails and tracks around Pitsford Water; the half marathon route also passes through the villages of Holcot, Hannington, Walgrave, Old and Scaldwell.

Both courses start and finish at the race HQ in Brixworth Country Park and follow paths that include dam crossings, causeways and tracks alongside Pitsford Water. The half marathon route includes a number of stiles between fields. No in-ear headphones are allowed; bone conduction headphones that do not sit in the ear are permitted.

Entry rules and practical details include a minimum age of 16 for the 10k and 17 for the half marathon, a race cut off time of four hours for both distances, and a prohibition on running with dogs because the routes use farmland footpaths. Entries and transfers close seven days before the event.

On-course support includes professional first aid at the start and finish and access to runners on course. Water stations are provided: the half marathon has stations at about miles 3, 6.5 and 9.5, and the 10k has a station at about mile 3; water is also available at the finish. Trail shoes or shoes with grip are advisable. Mandatory items include a fully charged mobile phone with race contact numbers for the half marathon and a personal cup, as the races are cupless.

The event offers prizes for the top three male and female finishers in each race and a specially commissioned medal for all finishers. A Water Trail Race Series option links this race with Rutland and Grafham events, with cumulative trophies and interlocking medals for series finishers. Parking is available at Brixworth Country Park with fees, and a limited number of free spaces are offered at a nearby car park on a first come first served basis.
