Pen Y Fan Challenge - Off The Tarmac

The Pen Y Fan Challenge is a trail running event scheduled for 25 July 2027 at Storey Arms, LD3 8NL in the Brecon Beacons. The event offers two trail distances that both include the Pen Y Fan summit and take place on waymarked and marshalled routes.

  • 5 miles (elevation gain 1765 ft)
  • 13 miles (elevation gain 4097 ft / 1248 m)

Entry includes a buff, a branded slate coaster, a National Trust contribution fee, a signed posted and marshalled route, and water and sweets provided at the finish of the 5 mile course and at one checkpoint on the 13 mile course. Prices differ by affiliation: affiliated runners pay £22 for 5 miles and £32 for 13 miles; non affiliated runners pay £24 for 5 miles and £34 for 13 miles.

Compulsory kit for the 5 mile course includes a mobile phone, hydration of at least 500 ml, a foil blanket or Bivi Bag, snacks, a basic first aid kit, a whistle, and a windproof jacket.
