About the race
Pay the Price is a trail running event on Price Mountain with two in-person distances and a virtual option. The event is scheduled for April 3, 2027 and the field is capped at 150 participants. Registration opens November 1 and fee tiers change by date.
Registration fees for both in-person distances: $35 until December 31; $40 January 1 to March 10; $45 March 11 to April 2; $50 April 2 and on race day. The virtual option is $25; virtual registrants receive a race shirt if registered before March 11, 2026, otherwise they receive a Mountain Junkies LLC Hoo Rag.
Distances:
- 4.6 miles Small Price loop
- 14.2 miles Big Price course
Course highlights for the Big Price include an initial one mile climb, ridge running with a two mile downhill to Patterson Creek Road, 2.3 miles on gravel road, a 1.25 mile uphill on Kelly Trail back to the ridge, then a return to the start. The Small Price follows Sulpher Ridge Trail to the Price Mountain Trail and returns to the start in a clockwise loop.
Packet pickup is offered at local partners before race day and at the Price Mountain trailhead on race day. Parking is limited and the entry cap reflects venue constraints.
Awards are given to the top three overall men and women, first place masters, and top three in 13 age groups for both sexes. Race rules prohibit dogs, require visible race numbers, restrict amplified music, and require adherence to marked routes. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
