About the race

The Ouray Mountain Trail Run is a 13 mile trail race in Ouray, Colorado, held on September 19, 2026. The course starts and ends at Fellin Park and runs on mountain trails around the town of Ouray. The event is a fundraiser for the Ouray School, hosted by the Parent and Teacher Organization and the high school Outdoor Education class. Proceeds support student educational trips to places such as Moab, Denver, Washington DC, and Mexico. Registration options include a race entry with an Outdoor Research race shirt for $90 or without a race shirt for $70 (choose no shirt during registration).

Ouray County students and school staff may participate for free; they must contact the organizers to receive a coupon code. The race shirt can be purchased separately for students for $20. T-shirt size availability can only be guaranteed for registrants who register before August 1.

Registration closes on Wednesday, September 16, 2026. There are no day-of registrations. Race packets are available for pickup at Fellin Park on the Friday before the race or on race day before the start; organizers encourage pickup on the Friday evening. The event aims to be cupless with three water stations that have limited cups, so runners should carry their own water.

The first aid station is at mile 5; the second aid station is at approximately mile 7 and must be reached within three hours. Awards are given to the top three male and top three female finishers. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
