Ouray 50 Mile Endurance Run
The Ouray 50 Mile Endurance Run is a trail race held in Ouray, Colorado on August 14, 2027, organized by Ouray Ultras and based at Fellin Park. The course covers 50 miles with listed elevation gain of 23,582 feet and an average elevation near two miles above sea level. The route consists largely of technical, high altitude mountain trails; the event description refers to a "patent-pending" broken-windshield race format.
Runners must carry a SPOT tracker provided by the organizers; locations are updated every five minutes. Top finishers are eligible for cash awards: $500 for the top male 50 mile finisher and $625 for the top female 50 mile finisher, with payment subject to postrace urine and/or blood testing for banned substances. THC above 150 ng/ml will be treated as a positive result under the stated testing policy. Winners may be required to provide samples after the finish.
An official Ouray 50 finish qualifies a runner to enter the Ouray 100 for the following three years. Entry registration opens December 5, 2026. Each participant must complete eight hours of volunteer service between August 1, 2026 and August 7, 2027; prior qualifying service from the stated 2026 window may count for some entrants. Participants who have not submitted their service form or paid the $100 opt-out donation by August 7, 2027 will forfeit their registration and will not be permitted to participate.
