OMM Lite
OMM Lite is a navigation-based event held in Grasmere as part of the Lake District Running Festival on 5 to 6 June 2027. Organisers place 30 checkpoints around the valley; competitors receive a map showing checkpoint locations and have a set amount of time to visit as many as possible and return to headquarters. Each checkpoint carries a points value and teams or individuals record visits using a timing tag at a control box.
The event runs as either a one-day or two-day format. Competitors may choose between two course durations: Long Course with time limits of Saturday 7 hours and Sunday 5 hours, and Short Course with time limits of Saturday 5 hours and Sunday 4 hours. Entries may be solo or in teams of two or three; teams must stay within talking distance of each other at all times.
Maps will use Harveys 1:25000. Each checkpoint is marked with a two-letter code and a circular symbol; the score for each checkpoint is shown on the map. If a control box fails, competitors should note the three-letter code or photograph the control and report it at the finish.
A minimum kit list is specified and includes waterproof jacket and trousers, warm layer, hat and gloves, trail footwear, pen or pencil, whistle, compass, the supplied map, first aid, emergency food, water carrying and a fully charged mobile phone. Organisers may carry out random kit checks and may disqualify competitors judged to lack necessary kit for an emergency.
Entry prices are £60 per person for one day and £100 per person for two days. Included with entry are SPORTident timing chips, live tracking, free event photographs, bespoke OMM Lite maps and a hot meal after the event. Meal choices offered are meat, vegetarian, vegan or gluten free. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
