Ode to Laz Michigan Backyard Ultra

The Ode to Laz Michigan Backyard Ultra is a Last Person Standing backyard ultra held in Holly, Michigan on July 18, 2026. The event is organized by The Ode Races and takes place at the park venue near 5000 McGinnis Road with camping available in the McGinnis campgrounds.

Runners repeat a loop that must be completed within each hour to continue. Contestants provide their own aid; pacers are not permitted and crew is allowed. Packet pickup occurs race morning at the assigned starting area and assignments are communicated before the race. Parking for one vehicle overnight is available for full-event entrants and 10 by 10 canopy or tent space is offered first-come, first-served.

Course details:

  • 4.167 mile trail loop; about 350 feet of climbing, two thirds technical single track and one third moderate path with some pavement.
  • 4.167 mile night loop; about 250 feet of climbing on the park road.

Safety and event rules note that water is provided, glass containers are prohibited, alcohol is permitted, and hiking poles and headphones are not allowed on trails. Virtual entrants are not eligible for prizes or at-large backyard qualifications. The 2026 champion earns a Silver Ticket toward the USA national backyard team if the winner is USA eligible; the ticket is unclaimed if the winner is not eligible.
