About the race
The Northumberland Turkey Trot is a Thanksgiving Monday community running event held on Monday, October 12, 2026. The event presents multiple participation options and includes a traditional 1K fun run plus longer distances, with a Golden Drumstick trophy and prize available for a special contest.
Distances include:
- 1K Fun Run
- 2.5K
- 5K
Finisher medals are awarded for the first 400 registrants who participate in the 2.5K and 5K distances. Separate kids medals are provided for participants in the 1K Fun Run.
The event supports the YMCA Strong Communities Campaign, which aims to reduce financial barriers for children, teens, adults and seniors in the local community. Organizers state the event focuses on being family friendly and inclusive; they offer to discuss accommodations for participants who face barriers to participation.
The refund policy specifies that refunds are not available because many event costs are incurred before the event; entry transfers may be possible if the organizer is notified within a reasonable time. The previous year reached capacity and sold out. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
