About the race
The Northumberland Turkey Trot is a community running event based at the Cobourg YMCA (339 Elgin St W, Cobourg, ON) that raises funds for the YMCA Strong Communities Campaign. The event takes place in the Cobourg Conservation Area and uses an urban green space course that is mostly grass with uneven ground and small rolling hills. The 5K course is a double loop of the 2.5K route. The 5K and 2.5K are timed events; the Wing Ding 1K is an untimed kids fun run. Bibs are assigned at the event.
Distances and main formats:
- 5K: timed run, double loop of 2.5K
- 2.5K: timed run or walk
- 1K Wing Ding: untimed kids fun run
- Gobble Wobble: free activity for ages 4 and under
- Choose Your Own Adventure: virtual or self directed option, complete by end of October
Medals and awards include finisher medals for the first 400 registrants in the 2.5K and 5K, kids medals for the 1K (limit 150), top finisher recognition by gender and age categories, the Golden Drumstick Award for turkey spirit, and draw prizes. Costumes are welcome. Dogs are not permitted on the course during running events but leashed dogs may be in the start and finish area. Strollers should stay off the running course; the 2.5K may suit backpack or sling carriers.
Family registration can be completed in one transaction using code FAMILY25 for 25 percent off; a family is 2 adults plus up to 4 children 18 years old or younger.
