2026 Northumberland Turkey Trot
The event takes place on October 12, 2026 at the Cobourg YMCA, 339 Elgin St W, Cobourg, Ontario. It supports the YMCA Strong Communities Campaign and includes timed and untimed options, youth activities, and fundraising elements.
Distances and options include:
- 5K timed run; double loop of the 2.5K course
- 2.5K timed run or walk on mostly grass terrain
- 1K Wing Ding kids fun run; untimed, finisher medals, limit 150 kids
- Gobble Wobble for children four and under; free activity with a surprise
- Choose Your Own Adventure virtual or on-site option completed by the end of October
Course and logistics: participants start at the YMCA and run or walk through the Cobourg Conservation Area, a mainly grassy urban green space with uneven ground and small rolling hills. Bibs are assigned at the event and on-site check in and race day registration take place at the YMCA.
Awards and extras: finisher medals are provided for the first 400 registrants in the 2.5K and 5K events. Top male and female finishers receive prizes in two age categories 18 and under, and 19 plus. A Golden Drumstick Award recognizes best turkey spirit. Organizers discuss accommodations for participants who face barriers.
Family discount: use code FAMILY25 for 25 percent off when registering two adults and up to four children in a single transaction. Dogs are not allowed on the course during running events; leashed dogs may be in the start and finish area. Strollers are asked to stay off the running course.
