NipMuck Trail Marathon
The NipMuck Trail Marathon is scheduled for October 4, 2026 in Ashford, CT and is organized by the Shenipsit Striders. The event is offered as a full trail marathon and a relay option. Entry fees range from USD 43.50 to 66.25 and registration closes on October 1.
Race options
- 26.4 miles trail marathon on the Nipmuck Trail
- Relay teams of two runners, each running one half of the course
The marathon follows a 13 mile segment in the middle of the 36 mile Nipmuck Trail, starting at the Perry Hill Road area. The course runs south about 6.2 miles to Route 44 and back to the start, then north about 7 miles to Boston Hollow Road and returns to Perry Hill Road for the finish. Trail features include rocks, roots, mud, and wooden bridges. The second half of the race includes more hills and slightly more distance, so about 60 percent of running time is spent in that portion.
Logistics note: the start location is at the corner of Lipps Road and Perry Hill Road in Ashford. Race shirts are available as an add-on during registration or afterward via the event store; shirt orders must be placed before September 12. The event has published course cutoffs, including a finish time limit of eight hours.
The race is run by the Shenipsit Striders, a nonprofit trail running club that donates to Connecticut trail stewardship programs and participates in the Blue-Blazed Trail Running Series. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
