NIMRA Run For Rescue Trail Race
The NIMRA Run for Rescue Trail Race is a hilly trail event held on 21 November 2026 at Donard Park with Race HQ at the Mourne Mountain Rescue Base in Newcastle. The event is organised by the Northern Ireland Mountain Running Association. The route is approximately 11 km of trail with some open mountain sections. The course will be marked and marshalled for all competitors. The minimum age for entry is 17.
Entry is a voluntary donation and all proceeds go to the Mourne Mountain Rescue. The Mourne Mountain Rescue is a voluntary organisation whose mission is to "Relieve the suffering and distress of persons injured or in danger of injury through accident or natural hazard particularly in the area of the Mourne Mountains but elsewhere if necessary to educate and inform the public concerning safety and rescue in mountainous and other outdoor environments."
A mandatory equipment check will be carried out at the start of the race; participants are asked to wear trail shoes suitable for mountain and trail terrain. After the race there is an expected NIMRA 2026 Championship and League prize giving at the Mourne Mountain Rescue Base, followed by occasional spot prizes.
