NIMRA LEAGUE Spread Your Wings Fell Race

The event is a fell race held on 29 August 2026 with race base at Sandy Brae, Attical (263 205). The course covers 11 km with 768 m of ascent and runs through the Western Mournes. The route follows a gravel path to a wall at the cattle pens, then climbs to the Big Ol' Boulder on Slievemageogh (control point 1). Runners continue north along the broad ridge of Pigeon to its southerly summit (control point 2), then take a free route choice to the summit of Slievemoughanmore (control point 3). A descent precedes a further climb to Eagle Mountain (control point 4), with the marked route returning along the cliff edge to finish at Sandy Brae carpark, where buns and biccies are provided.

Entries open on 6 July 2026 and close on 28 August 2026; online entry is £15, with a limited number of on-the-day entries at £18. The minimum age for entry is 18 or older.

All runners must carry required safety equipment: a whistle; emergency rations equivalent to one mars bar minimum; waterproof garments that afford complete body protection; hat, gloves and a foil blanket; and suitable mountain footwear.
