Night Train 100K, 50K and Half Marathon
Night Train is a set of evening trail races on the High Bridge Trail in Farmville, VA, organized by Virginia Adventures and scheduled for June 19, 2027. The event marks its tenth year and introduces a new 100K option that runs east toward Burkeville with aid at Rice and Orchard Road, returns to Camp Paradise, then continues west to Pamplin before returning to the start.
Distances offered include:
- 100K new option with a 19 hour time limit and aid at Rice and Orchard Road.
- 50K with a 16 hour time limit; course described as slightly long, near 32 miles.
- Half Marathon with an 8 hour time limit.
- 5K, Family 5K, and hiker options for half marathon and 5K.
All races start and finish at Camp Paradise and follow an old rail trail through historic countryside and small towns. The course finishes by crossing the bridge; nighttime conditions often include visible fireflies and moonlight. Aid stations include Downtown Farmville, Tuggle and Prospect; those points also allow crew access. The event is cupless and chip timed. Runners must carry water; at least 20 ounces is recommended and failure to carry water can lead to disqualification. Women receive a tank top and men receive a T shirt; all finishers receive awards and top three finishers per gender receive prizes. A most Patriotic runner award is given for each gender. Gluten free options will be available at aid stations if noted at registration. Family 5K permits one registrant to add up to four family members for a single fee with shirts and finisher awards included. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
