New Forest Brockenhurst Trail Run
The event starts from Roundhill Campsite near Brockenhurst and takes place inside the New Forest National Park. Routes follow wide, hard packed gravel paths and pass through ancient woodland and heathland, with sections of well maintained, solid underfoot trails that are suitable in mixed late season weather.
There are three route distances:
- 21.6k Half Marathon
- 16.7k Medium route
- 10k Short route
The half marathon route has approximately 183 m of elevation gain and the courses are described as slightly undulating and relatively flat. The route is clearly signed using pink arrows and pink tape, with hazards and road junctions marked by caution signs. Wildlife commonly seen along the trails includes New Forest ponies, horses, donkeys and deer. The course also passes an abandoned World War II airfield where nature has reclaimed the site.
Event facilities and support include chip timing, on-course refreshments, water stations, course marshals, first aid cover and event photography. At the finish participants receive a metal finisher medal, a finisher's goodie and a refreshing drink, and a personalised certificate is available. The event operates a plastic free policy and participants are asked to bring a reusable cup or bottle for water stations. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
