BigSky Trails (AIR)

BigSky is the final event in the Classic Element Trail Series. The race starts from Hyde Common in the New Forest National Park and runs across wide open plains and winding forest trails with extensive horizon views and free roaming wildlife. The course finishes with a run along Hampton Ridge back to Hyde Common.

The event is fully marked and marshalled. Distances and prices:

  • 18 Miles £48
  • Marathon £60
  • 50k Ultramarathon £70

Aid provision varies by distance: 2 aid stations for the 18 mile route, 3 for the marathon and 4 for the 50k, with additional water stations in between. Aid stations are stocked with sweet and savoury snacks, vegan options, water and flat coke. The event operates as a cupless event.

Mandatory kit requirements include carrying at least 500ml of fluid; handheld soft flasks are permitted. Runners are advised to carry clothing suitable for changeable conditions. Organisers strongly advise downloading the GPX route file to a wearable device or phone because course arrows can be tampered with. A bag drop tent will be available on the day.

Parking is provided at Harrys Field Campsite, Abbots Well Road, Frogham, Nr Fordingbridge. Finishers receive a bespoke event medal. Classic Element Trail Series T shirts are available by pre order and collected at event HQ. Runners may opt to have a tree planted instead of a finishers medal. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
