About the race
Mutt Strut 5k Memphis is a dog friendly charity run and walk held on October 10, 2026 at 2080 Poplar Avenue in Memphis, Tennessee. The event benefits Dogs 2nd Chance, a Mid South dog rescue that cares for abandoned and abused dogs. The course is a 3.1 mile loop in Overton Park that starts at the Rainbow Lake Pavilion across from Overton Bark dog park.
All participants who cross the finish receive a Mutt Strut 5K medal. The event offers team fundraising opportunities and awards for top finishers, including overall Top Male and Female, Masters and Grand Masters categories, plus the top three in each age group from youth to senior divisions.
Rules for canine participants are stated clearly: dogs must remain on a short leash in public areas, retractable leashes are not allowed, female dogs in heat and puppies under 12 weeks are prohibited, and owners must be able to present a current rabies certificate upon request. Dogs will be provided fresh water during and after the run. Organizers note that owners assume responsibility for any injury or damage caused by their pets and that dogs participate at the owner’s risk.
Packet pickup is scheduled on Thursday October 8 from 3:00 to 6:00 pm at Fleet Feet Laurelwood (4530 Poplar Ave), on Friday October 9 from 3:00 to 6:00 pm at a pending location, and Saturday morning starting at 7:45 am. Parking is available around Overton Park along Veterans Plaza, Golf Drive and Morrie Moss Lane.
