Mourne Mountain Marathon

The Mourne Mountain Marathon is a two day team navigation and endurance event held in the Mourne Mountains, Northern Ireland. The 47th edition is scheduled for 19th and 20th September 2026 and is organised for teams of two across several competitive classes.

Courses and formats include:

  • Two day courses covering between 35 km and 55 km

Elite, B, C and D classes compete over two days on set courses with control markers; the fastest team around each course wins. There is also a one day Score class in which teams collect points over a six hour period and the team with the most points wins. The published distance versus ascent ratios are guidelines and may vary with terrain, weather and route choice.

Participants camp overnight and are expected to be self-sufficient for the weekend. The event offers a flexible start time on day one, SPORTident race timing, a range of prize categories, and refreshments at the end of day two. Entries are limited to 200 teams. Entry fees are listed as £110 per team, with a reduced rate of £75 for U23 and Adult-Junior teams; the Score class has a separate fee of £40 per team.

The event is organised with support from Mac in a Sac and Lila’s Outdoors and includes a t-shirt and car sticker for participants. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
