The Mountain Goat Trail Run

The Mountain Goat Trail Run takes place at Merck Forest & Farmland Center in Rupert, Vermont on Sunday, September 20, 2026. The event includes a main trail race and a separate kids run around the farm.

The main trail race is an 8.5 mile loop that gains about 1,800 ft of elevation. The course starts and finishes at the Sap House, follows a ski trail up to the summit of Mt Antone, descends Masters Mtn Trail to the Hidden Valley Road junction, continues east past Clark Hollow, climbs a forest road to the Glen, then returns downhill to the farm and Sap House. Two aid stations are located at the Glen and at the junction of Masters Mtn Trail and Hidden Valley Road; aid stations provide light snacks, fruit, and hydration including Skratch and water. Runners must wear bibs visibly pinned to their clothing.

The kids run is a fun, roughly 0.75 mile loop on the dirt road around the farm. Parents may run with children.

Packet pick-up is available at the Mountain Goat store in Manchester and on race day at the start line near the Sap House. Parking is in the main lot at Merck Forest with an approximate quarter mile walk along the dirt road to the Sap House. Bathrooms are at the visitor center near parking or primitive facilities near the Sap House. Dogs are not allowed on the race course. Course maps are available on Gaia and Strava. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
