CLTA 5K In Memoriam
The fourth annual CLTA 5K is held in memoriam of a Purple Heart recipient and USAF Major General. The event takes place on the grounds of the Chris Lewit Tennis Academy at 3997 VT 100 in S. Londonderry, Vermont, near Manchester and located in the Green Mountains during peak fall foliage.
The race distance is 3.1 Miles and the course is laid out as approximately 0.75-mile laps on wooded trails. The route winds beside the West River and returns past a checkpoint in front of the club several times, providing repeated viewing opportunities for spectators.
Organizers note that this is a technical trail race through forested terrain. Participants should expect uneven surfaces, exposed roots, rocks, and potentially slippery fall conditions. Many CLTA tennis academy students are expected to participate, and kids and families are welcomed.
Net proceeds from the event will go to veterans charities such as Homes For Our Troops. The published registration fee is $30.00. Registered racers receive free T-shirts. After the event, trails near the academy and the nearby town of Manchester are available for additional walking or sightseeing. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
