Mountain Creek Mayhem
Mountain Creek Mayhem is a trail-running event located in the northern Michaux State Forest within the Appalachian Mountains of south-central Pennsylvania. The race headquarters is situated at the Fuller Lake Day Use Area within Pine Grove Furnace State Park in Gardners. The venue provides access to parking, bathrooms, and shower facilities.
The event features three distinct course distances:
- 50K: Approximately 33 miles with over 4,400 feet of elevation gain.
- 20 Miler: A course featuring 3,000 feet of elevation gain.
- Half Marathon: Approximately 13.1 miles with over 1,400 feet of elevation gain.
The terrain consists of a variety of surfaces, including sandstone boulder ridgelines, single-track paths, pine needle-covered trails, and grassy double-track roads. Participants encounter technical forest paths, rocky descents, and woodland savannahs.
Several aid stations are positioned along the routes, offering water, electrolytes, soda, fruit, snacks, and menstrual products. A drop bag location is available specifically for the 50K distance at the 19.7-mile mark. The 50K has a 10-hour time limit, while the 20 Miler has a 7-hour limit. The Half Marathon offers an 8.5-hour time limit, which accommodates hikers and ruckers, although there are no separate divisions for these activities.
