Moo-Light Challenge

The Moo-Light Challenge is a night-running event held at Hyde Hall Farm in Hertfordshire. The event takes place on a gently rolling estate lap that measures 5.4 km (3.3 mi). The course is approximately 80% off-road, utilizing grounds and paths through the Hyde Hall estate, while the remaining 20% of the route is on-road. Each lap includes a total ascent of 52 m, with a high point of 140 m and a low point of 112 m. Runners follow the loop in an anticlockwise direction.

Participants can choose from three distinct entry durations based on time shifts:

  • 12 hours (Dusk to Dawn)
  • 6 hours (Sunset Shift, 6pm to midnight)
  • 6 hours (Moonlit Shift, midnight to 6am)

Because the event takes place overnight, head torches are considered essential equipment. An aid station remains open throughout the night providing hot drinks and refreshments. This is a cupless event, meaning participants must bring their own cups and bottles for refilling. Finishers receive a medal upon completion of their chosen shift. For those unable to attend the physical location at Hyde Hall Farm, a virtual entry option is also available.

The venue is located in Buntingford, and parking is available at the farm. The lap format allows runners to achieve various distances including 5 km, 10 km, or half-marathon distances and beyond by completing multiple loops. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
