Manchester Herculean Task
This event marks a runner's 100th marathon and takes place at Hardy Farm in Chorlton Water Park, Manchester M21 8FE. It is a timed event held over a 7 hour window on a flat, fast trail loop along the River Mersey. Participants can complete as many laps as they wish; one lap is 2.91 miles and completing a single lap counts as a finisher.
The route follows an off road riverside towpath with very little elevation. The event welcomes runners, walkers, joggers, hikers and others who wish to take part. Every finisher receives a bespoke finisher medal.
An all day aid station is available and stocked with vegetarian food plus many vegan and gluten free options including bananas, dates, jelly sweets, crisps, squash, full sugar cola and usually cake. The organiser notes that people with severe or life threatening allergies should bring their own food because cross contamination cannot be guaranteed.
A race brief is sent one week before the event and is mandatory reading for all participants. The event supports Pendleside Hospice in Burnley. Facilities include toilets and changing rooms at Race HQ. Parking is limited to 75 spaces at Hardy Farm on a first come first served basis, with a further 100 spaces at Sale Water Park about a 15 minute walk from the start and additional public pay and display parking around the park.
Entry fees are listed as £40 for affiliated entrants and £42 for unaffiliated entrants. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
