Lowestoft Scores Race 2026
The Lowestoft Scores Race returns on Sunday 30 August 2026 as the 27th edition organised by Waveney Valley Athletic Club. The route starts and finishes in the upper high street and passes through the historic Scores area of Lowestoft. Christchurch will provide race headquarters with limited changing facilities, bag drop, post-race refreshments and the prize-giving.
The event comprises two races with stepped and sloped sections along the Scores:
- Senior: approximately 4.75 miles, 13 stepped and sloped Scores, 401 steps.
- Junior: approximately 1.4 miles, 13 stepped and sloped Scores, 254 steps.
The Senior race is open to competitors aged 16 and over on race day; the Junior race is open to competitors aged 9 and over. Entries are limited to 400 Seniors and 50 Juniors. Entries are non-refundable except if the race is cancelled; transfers are available until 22/08/2026. The organisers require club entrants to put forward a volunteer to help run the event; the race uses up to 80 marshals and helpers.
All participants receive a medal and a commemorative t-shirt; entrants should ensure the correct size is selected on the entry form. Prize categories include top positions for male and female senior and junior age groups and multiple masters age categories; a monetary bonus is offered if the course record is broken. The race is licensed by UK Athletics and sponsored by Lowestoft Town Council. Past race results and race history are published for previous years.
