Lord of the Hill - Monroe, WA

Lord of the Hill is a Last Person Standing running event held on October 17, 2026 in Lord Hill Regional Park near Monroe, WA. The course is a 0.8 mile loop with 233 ft of gain concentrated in one steep climb. The loop begins alongside an old quarry with a short flat stretch, then a sustained climb to the top, a right turn onto downhill switchbacks through the trees, and a brief rise before the finish.

The format uses shrinking lap times. The first lap allows 18 minutes to complete, then the allowed time decreases by 60 seconds each lap until reaching 15 minutes, after which lap times decrease by 30 seconds. The last racer to complete a full lap within the allotted time is crowned Lord of the Hill. If no racer completes the final lap in time, the fastest time from the previous completed lap determines the winner.

Participants receive custom canvas banners to mark who remains in the competition. A brief coronation ceremony awards the winner a collection of prizes including $250 cash, $50 in Super Jock 'n Jill gift cards, a prize basket from North Sound Physical Therapy that includes a branded YETI mug, and a custom 3D-printed crown.

Water stations are located at the start line and at the top of the hill. October weather in Western Washington can be cold, rainy and blustery; costumes are encouraged for this medieval-themed event. Parking is available in Lord Hill Regional Park’s South Lot. T-shirts and additional swag are offered as event add-ons. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
