Lord of the Hill
Lord of the Hill is a Last Person Standing running event on October 17, 2026 at Lord Hill Regional Park near Monroe, WA, organized by Side Quest Adventures. The event uses a repeated-loop format with shrinking allowable lap times until only one runner remains.
The course is a 0.8 mile loop with 233 ft of elevation gain concentrated on one steep climb. Each lap begins near the old quarry, includes a mostly flat approach, the main climb, downhill switchbacks through trees, and a short rise before the finish. Water stations are located at the start line and at the top of the hill.
Lap timing rules start with an 18 minute lap, then decrease by 60 seconds each lap until a 15 minute lap is reached, after which lap times reduce by 30 seconds. The last racer to complete a full lap within the allotted time is crowned Lord of the Hill. If no racer completes the final lap in time, the winner is the fastest time from the previous completed lap.
Participants receive a custom canvas banner to mark active competitors. A brief coronation ceremony is held for the victor. The winner receives cash and other prizes including a $250 cash award, $50 in gift cards, a prize basket with a branded mug, and a custom 3D printed crown. The event has a medieval theme and costumes are encouraged.
Parking is available in the park south lot. Trails are shared with hikers, bikers and equestrians. T-shirts are available as an add-on; additional merchandise may be offered onsite. Registration closes October 12 at 11:59 PM PT. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
