About the race
2027 Leopolds Preserve 5k and 10k is a trail running event held at Leopolds Preserve in Broad Run, Virginia. The courses are mostly on dirt paths with some roots and are described as fairly flat. The event offers both a loop course for the 5k and an out and back course with a return detour for the 10k.
The event supports series scoring and local conservation. Points count toward the Year Long 5k, 10k and Back of the Pack series as well as a Summer Series. The White House Farm Foundation owns and manages Leopolds Preserve, a 380 acre nature conservancy in Haymarket that offers about seven miles of hiking trails with interpretive signage, guided hikes, and volunteer opportunities.
Race services and facilities include a chip timing system, a finisher medal, and a technical Drifit event shirt. Water stations are placed at approximately mile markers 0.9 and 2.2 on the 5k and at approximately 0.9, 3, and 5 on the 10k with Gatorade available at some stations. Portajohns are located near the start and finish. Packet pickup is available at the event and t shirts are guaranteed for runners registered before August 11, with extra shirts available on a first come first served basis.
Awards are given to the top three men and women overall and to first and second place finishers in age categories such as 19 and under, 20 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59, 60 to 69, and 70 plus. A virtual run option is offered for participants who cannot attend in person. Walkers are welcome. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
