BRR Training Run #3: The North
Scheduled for Sat Mar 6, 2027, this training run starts at Hemlock Overlook Regional Park and runs on the Bull Run-Occoquan Trail. The route distance is 15.5 miles with a total ascent and descent of 2,190 feet. The course covers the northern section of the BRR 50 Miler route and corresponds to the early miles of that race.
The northern section is described as the easier part of the 50 mile course: it combines some climbs and descents with extended flat, stream-side running. The northernmost portion beyond the Centreville trailhead is particularly flat and runnable. The route will include the Bluebell Loop in Bull Run Regional Park. Almost the entire run will follow the blue-blazed BROT and the route will not be marked except for trail blazing.
No signup is necessary for this training run. The only planned aid is a water table at the midpoint between the BROT and Bluebell trailheads. Participants should be prepared to self-support between trailheads.
The hosting club does not provide medical personnel, medical supplies, or on-course medical care. Runners are responsible for their own health and safety. In case of emergency, local emergency services will be contacted, but remote locations may delay response times and medical help may be far away.
