10 Miles Around Ashdown Forest

A rolling 10-mile loop (approximately 9.7 miles / 15.6 km) around Ashdown Forest that mixes open heathland, woodland trails, sandy tracks and steady climbs. The route starts and finishes on higher ground and quickly settles into wide views, winding paths and natural trail surfaces typical of forest running.

From the start the route heads generally south, with the first few miles dropping from the ridge into lower, more sheltered sections that allow easier running early on. Midway the course swings east then north, climbing back through a mixture of tracks and smaller trails. The northern section drops again before a final steady climb onto higher ground in the closing miles.

The route has around 350–425 metres of elevation gain, depending on GPS smoothing, with a highest point just over 220 m and a lowest point around 75 m. This gives the loop a rolling feel with several runnable sections and some steadier climbs later in the route.

The event is presented as a social trail run rather than a race. Participants can run with a guide, follow the provided GPX file, or choose their own pace. Trail shoes are recommended, especially after rain. Runners are advised to carry water, snacks, a charged phone and the GPX route, and to be comfortable covering the distance. Meeting location is Gills Lap Car Park, Gills Lap, Uckfield TN22 3JD, UK; what3words meetpoint ///huddling.fitter.aimlessly. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
