Leeds Country Way In A Day 100km

The Leeds Country Way In a Day is a full circumnavigation of the city of Leeds using the local LCW footpaths. The route is approximately 100 km / 62 miles and passes through neighbouring villages, parks and nature reserves. Although the circuit lies close to central Leeds it is mainly rural and offers extensive open views in places.

The course surface is roughly 80% trail and 20% road or tarmac. The official LCW is waymarked with owl plaques and signposts; the final quarter of the route has additional reflective markers for night navigation. A mandatory GPX file is provided and runners are responsible for navigating the route.

Support and facilities include live tracking, at least nine aid stations, two major indoor aid stations with drop bags, checkpoints supplying water, coke and snacks, race photography, first aid, a wooden finisher medal and a post race meal. Toilets are available at the start, finish and at the two major checkpoints. Runners may leave two small non-returnable drop bags to be transported to the major checkpoints and may leave luggage at Race HQ.

Mandatory kit requirements include a phone or watch with the GPX route or a paper map, a headtorch, waterproof jacket, foil survival blanket, warm hat and capacity for one litre of water. Crew are welcome at checkpoints; no more than one pacer at a time is allowed from the start. The event alternates start venues, with Miners Welfare Hall, Garforth and St John’s Community Church, Greengates used in different years. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
