About the race
Last of the Felascans is a Backyard Ultra scheduled for November 21, 2026 in Alachau, FL, held at San Felasco Hammock Preserve State Park and organized by Mule Racing.
Participants run a repeating loop of 4.167 miles every hour and are eliminated if they do not complete a loop within that hour. The loop is on trails during daylight and along a dirt road after dark; there is no pavement on either course. Each loop is 100 divided by 24, so completing 24 loops equals 100 miles. There is no predefined finish; the winner is the competitor who completes a loop that no other competitor completes. If no one outlasts all others, there is no winner.
Race rules require runners to be in the starting corral when the bell rings, to start when the bell rings, and to receive no assistance after the bell until they complete the loop. A whistle will sound at 3, 2, and 1 minute remaining before the start of each loop.
Logistics: each runner may set up a maximum 10'x10' base camp at the start/finish. There are no aid stations on course and no aid outside the start/finish area. Bathrooms and water will be available at the start/finish; ice may be available. Event shirts will be provided and the final remaining runner receives a special trophy.
San Felasco Hammock Preserve State Park is a protected area of over 7,000 acres and is noted for its diversity of plants and geological features.
There are no refunds for dropping out; registration fees from dropouts will be donated to the Friends of San Felasco. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
