Gate2Gate Trail Run
The Gate2Gate Trail Run is a trail running event in Alachua, FL held on trails inside the San Felasco Hammock Preserve State Park. The park covers over 7,000 acres and is described as one of the largest protected contiguous stands of mesic hammock in Florida.
The route begins in the northern portion of the park and uses miles of high-quality single-track mountain bike trails, open fields, and rolling hills. After the first 5 miles the course transitions to double track hiking and birding trails in the southern portion, follows the yellow trail loop through the western area with several hills, then passes the CSO area and a lesser known connector trail back to the northern biking trails. The circuit is completed once for the 25K and twice for the 50K. The course will be open for 8 hours.
Aid stations are positioned at specific mile markers on each loop. Loop 1 stations occur at miles 5 (Old Oak Road), 9 (South Gate), 12 (CSO), and 15.5 (Start/Finish); Loop 2 stations occur at miles 20.5, 24.75, 28, and 31.5. Each station provides water, electrolyte drink (Powerade), basic ultra foods such as PB&J sandwiches, and various sweet and salty items. Gels, S-Caps, and medications like ibuprofen will not be provided. Cups will not be supplied, so runners must carry their own bottles, hydration vests, or cups. Single serving gel packs are discouraged to limit trail litter.
The event includes a TailGate2Gate celebration zone and is organized as a benefit race; all net profits will be donated to the Friends of San Felasco community support organization. Every finisher receives a custom medal and a custom glass, and 50K finishers also receive a custom trucker hat. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
