Event Overview
The Gate2Gate Trail Run takes place in the northern region of the San Felasco Hammock Preserve State Park, located near Alachua, Florida. This event utilizes the diverse landscapes of one of the largest protected mesic hammocks in the state, featuring a mix of single-track mountain bike trails, open fields, and rolling hills. The race is a benefit event, with net profits donated to the Friends of San Felasco Community Support Organization.
Course Details
Participants travel through the northern section of the park before transitioning into double-track hiking and birding trails in the southern portion. The route follows the yellow trail loop and includes sections with hills before returning to the start area via a connecting trail. The event offers two distances:
- 25 km: A single circuit of the course.
- 50 km: Two circuits of the course.
The course remains open for a total of 8 hours.
Aid Stations and Logistics
Aid stations are positioned at several points along the loop, including Old Oak Road, South Gate, and the CSO area. These stations provide water, electrolyte drinks, and basic foods such as peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, sweets, and salty snacks. This is a cup-less event, meaning participants must carry their own hydration vessels, such as bottles or vests. Single-serving gel packs are prohibited on the course to prevent littering.
Finisher Recognition
Every participant who completes their chosen distance receives a custom medal and a custom glass. Those finishing the 50 km race also receive a custom trucker hat. The event features a celebration zone known as the TailGate2Gate. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
