Lakeland Trails Ultra - Ambleside, Cumbria
The Lakeland Trails Ultra is a multi-distance trail event based in Ambleside, Cumbria. Courses are fully waymarked and marshalled, with GPX files available for the Ultra distances. The event offers the following distances:
- 100 km
- 55 km (race and challenge options)
- 23 km
- 14 km
The 55 km route crosses three mountain passes and includes about 7,000 ft of ascent with multiple feed stations. The 100 km route adds two further passes, roughly 3,500 ft more climbing, and additional feed stations. Shorter runs share some final sections of the Ultra routes.
Entry for the Ultra races includes professional course photography, real-time GPS tracking for the 100 km and for 55 km runners who opt in, and chip timing for the 23 km and 14 km events. The start/finish arena includes an event village with food stalls, trade stands and PA commentary.
There is a compulsory kit check and photographic ID requirement for the 55 km and 100 km events. Required kit includes waterproof jacket and trousers, a fully charged headtorch (plus spare batteries or an extra headtorch for the 100 km), a basic first aid kit, spare long-sleeved base layer, hat and gloves, whistle, mobile phone, emergency foil blanket or bivi and a reusable cup.
