Ullswater
Ullswater is a trail running event in Glenridding on the eastern shore of Ullswater offering two marked and marshalled routes. The event lists two distances:
- 14 km
- 10 km
The course runs mostly on scenic trails with short sections of tarmac and includes rocky and rooty sections that may be slippery. Alternative contingency routes run along the eastern shore and the 14 km alternate includes a climb to Boredale Hause; other course features include climbs to Silver Crag and an energetic descent into Patterdale on one route. There are no water stations on the courses, so competitors must carry their own water and a cup.
A lakeside boat start is used when conditions allow; if boats cannot sail the event uses the contingency routes and a land start. Registration is on the day at the main marquee and race numbers must be collected at least 45 minutes before a competitor’s start time. Parking is organised around the village with a main pay car park at King George V Fields and charges apply.
Compulsory kit must be carried: hat or buff, gloves, waterproof jacket, and long leggings or overtrousers. Over-ear and in-ear headphones are not permitted; bone conduction headphones are allowed. Dogs are not permitted on the course. An event village offers food and drink stalls, merchandise, a baggage storage area, portable toilets and live music.
