Ullswater Trail Events
Ullswater is a trail running event based in Glenridding on the eastern shore of Ullswater. The event offers marked and marshalled routes on mainly scenic trails with some short tarmac sections. Runners should expect rocky and rooty terrain in places and should take care at a road crossing near the finish.
There are two distance options:
- 10 km trail run, minimum age 18.
- 14 km trail route, minimum age 18.
Boat sailings may take competitors to the start when weather permits; if boats cannot sail, contingency routes start from Jenkin’s Field and still follow the eastern shore with climbs such as Silver Crag and a climb to Boredale Hause before a descent into Patterdale. All competitors must carry compulsory kit for the conditions including a hat or buff, gloves, a waterproof jacket and over-trousers or running tights; kit checks occur before boarding where applicable. In-ear headphones are not permitted; bone conduction headphones are allowed. Dogs are not allowed on the course.
Race numbers are collected from registration on race day and baggage storage is provided adjacent to the main marquee. Entries are not available on the day and are not transferable. An event village offers local food traders, coffee and official merchandise including organic cotton hoodies and technical tees. There is a prizegiving ceremony and live results are published online.
