Lake Tye Challenge

The Lake Tye Challenge is an endurance running event held in Monroe, Washington. The course consists of a 1.70 mile flat, paved loop trail around Lake Tye. Participants can choose between different time-based race categories:

  • 12 hours
  • 6 hours
  • 3 hours

A full aid station is situated at the start and finish area of each lap. It provides music, water, electrolyte fuel products, and various energy-rich food items. Beginning in the afternoon, burritos from a local restaurant are served to all participants. Chip timing with online tracking is used to record progress, and only full laps completed by the end of the event are counted in the final results.

The start and finish area includes a grass lawn where participants may place personal drop bags or canopies without spikes. Additional bag storage is available at the aid station. The venue provides direct beach access for cooling down during or after the event.

Each participant receives a wooden medal which doubles as a coaster, along with professional race photos. The top three male and female finishers in each category receive a special award. The event is organized by the Sky Valley Trail Runners Association, a non-profit organization. All proceedings are used for the improvement and maintenance of the trail network in the Monroe, Sultan, Gold Bar, and Index areas. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
