About the race
La Nuit is a night trail running event held at Cedar Ridge Preserve in Dallas, Texas (7171 Mountain Creek Pkwy). The event offers a range of race formats that use the same marked trail loop repeated through the night.
Distances and formats
- 1 Mile hike-n-run
- 5K
- 10K
- 3 Hour timed loop race
- 6 Hour timed loop race
- 9 Hour timed loop race
- 9 Hour Relay for three-person teams
The hour races and the relay use a roughly 3.2 mile loop that is repeated; winners are those with the most loops completed in the shortest total time. The trails are described as moderate to difficult with varied terrain including forested sections, a pond area, grassland, rock and wood-step sections, mulch, dirt, and small gravel. Trails include ups, downs, switchbacks and some narrow sections; reflective signs and ropes mark the course for night running.
Aid is available at a main start/finish station and a small halfway water table. The main aid station will supply water, Gatorade, pickle juice, pickles, chips, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, bananas, oranges, chocolate, and other snacks, plus some hot food options overnight. The event is cupless; runners should provide their own bottles or cups for refills.
Packet pick-up is offered at The Runner in Arlington in the days before the event and on race day at the venue. Entry fees are non-refundable and entries cannot be rolled to another year. Rules include staying on the marked course, no dogs, strollers, or bikes on the trails, and that trekking poles are allowed. Awards include finishers medals and place awards across overall, masters and age categories. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
