Kokanee Trail Runs
Kokanee Trail Runs is a scheduled trail race event in South Lake Tahoe, CA on October 4, 2026, organized by the Tahoe Mountain Milers. The event includes multiple distances on courses that run around Fallen Leaf Lake and over Tahoe Mountain.
Distances
- 1/2 Marathon: 12.63 miles, 1,387 feet of gain
- 10K: 6.54 miles, 618 feet of gain
- 5K: 3.4 miles, 263 feet of gain
- Tadpole Trot: half mile non-competitive for children 12 and under
The half marathon travels over the top of Tahoe Mountain with views of Lake Tahoe. The race is RRCA sanctioned and provides unique finisher awards for all entrants plus prizes for top runners in each gender and age division. Post-race refreshments and food are available for registered runners. Aid stations vary by race: the 5K has one water station, the 10K has two stations, and the half marathon has three stations; aid stations are stocked with water, Tailwind, and snacks. Tailwind is the official on-course drink, Dauwatermelon is listed at aid stations, and Rapid Hydration is available at the finish.
Packet pickup is offered at Camp Richardson Resort during the event weekend. The Start/Finish is located at South Tahoe High School football field; parking is available in school lots and restrooms are on the north end of the field.
Event shirts are sustainably sourced, made from 100% recycled materials, with adult sizes typically long sleeve and youth sizes short sleeve. Orders placed after August 16 are not guaranteed a shirt.
Safety rules prohibit headphones, dogs, strollers, and baby joggers. Registration closes October 1, 2026. Funds from the event support the Nevada Humane Society and the Boys & Girls Club of Lake Tahoe. Refunds are not issued for cancellations due to unforeseen circumstances; profits in such cases are donated to the event charities. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
