Jones Gap Trail Half Marathon
The Jones Gap Trail Half Marathon is a trail race held on September 11, 2027, at River Falls Lodge in Marietta, South Carolina. The event covers 13.1 miles through Jones Gap State Park and the Mountain Bridge Wilderness Area, with about 2,000 feet of total elevation gain.
The route begins on the road into Jones Gap State Park and then moves onto sustained singletrack. Highlights along the course include Rainbow Falls, the Rim of the Gap Trail, Little Pinnacle Mountain, roaring waterfalls, and multiple Middle Saluda River crossings across roughly 13,000 acres of woodland. Two aid stations are located at approximately mile 2.2 and mile 10.9, leaving a long unsupported midsection; the race is cup-less, so participants are expected to carry their own hydration.
On-site parking is free at River Falls Lodge, with a larger adjacent field available for vehicles. Packet pickup and race operations occur at the lodge, and the start and finish are located at the same site. There are no permanent restrooms on course. Post-race provisions include hot pancakes, music, and complimentary professional photos.
Race services include chip timing with live results, a custom race bib, a finisher medal, race-branded giveaways and stickers, and a custom race tattoo. Awards are given to the top three overall male and female finishers and to top three in each age group. The event supports Polk County Human Services and is part of the Upstate Giving Series.
