Isaac's Tea Trail Ultra - The Original Or Reverse 7/8/27
The event is a trail ultra that follows Isaac's Tea Trail, a loop of 37 miles starting and finishing in Allendale and passing through Ninebanks, Alston and Nenthead. The route lies entirely within the North Pennines AONB and a UNESCO Global Geopark and includes about 4800 ft of ascent.
The course follows permanent finger posts and trail markers and runs over a mixture of farmland tracks, field boundaries, sheep trods, minor roads and stoney undulating trails. The event is largely self navigating; marshals are placed at key points and a map and GPX file are provided. Entrants have a total of 12 hours to complete the route, which implies an average pace of roughly 3 mph. Relay entries are available for teams of three.
Race services include well stocked checkpoints with cold drinks, snacks, fruit and vegan options, hot drinks at the race headquarters, an event tracker for safety and free event photography. The entry package includes a branded event tea towel and a packet of mixed wild flower seeds. A donation from each entry will go towards trail upkeep.
The organiser states an eco friendly approach at events, avoiding disposable plastic cups and not providing event T shirts as a standard item. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
