About the race
Its Grim Up North Running stages Hubble Bubble and the Ghostly 1 Mile on the Leeds to Liverpool Canal at Wyther Lane, Kirkstall, Leeds LS5 3BT on 31 October 2026. The event is Trail Running Association licensed and uses a flat, scenic out-and-back canal route.
The programme includes eight distance options:
- Ghostly 1 Mile fun run for kids and families
- 10K
- 10 Mile
- Half Marathon
- 20 Mile (two 10 mile laps)
- Marathon (two half marathon laps)
- Ultra Marathon
The course is marshalled and fully signed. Feed and drink stations are provided approximately every three miles; participants are asked to bring a reusable cup or bottle because the event is cup-less. Fancy dress is encouraged and spot prizes are awarded for best Halloween costumes. All finishers receive a bespoke Halloween medal and there are sweet treats at the finish line.
Travel notes state the nearest rail access is Headingley station. There is no parking at the start and finish; Morrisons car park nearby is recommended and car sharing is encouraged. Registration opens at 08:00 and participants are advised to allow time to park, register, and prepare. For safety, over-ear headphones are not permitted; bone-conducting or single-ear earbuds are acceptable. Some road crossings on the route are unmanned.
