HOWL Trail 2027
The HOWL Trail event uses the final sections of the Heart of Wales Line trail and offers three point-to-point trail races that finish at the Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre in Craven Arms. The full Heart of Wales Line trail runs for 141 miles from Llanelli, Powys to Craven Arms, Shropshire; the event routes cover parts of those final sections.
Distances
- 50 miles route from Llandrindod Wells to Craven Arms, with two manned checkpoints.
- 26 miles route from Knucklas to Craven Arms, with one manned checkpoint.
- 16 miles route from Bucknell to Craven Arms, with no manned checkpoints.
Registration locations differ by distance and are set at local venues near the respective start points. Each race offers a baggage drop at registration and baggage is transported to the finish at the Discovery Centre. Parking is available at the finish; parked cars are charged £5, with proceeds supporting the Discovery Centre.
Age limits vary by course: HOWL50 and HOWL26 require ages 18 to 98, HOWL16 requires ages 17 to 98. The event overall lists an age range from 16 to 98. Entry fees are listed as £95 for the 50 mile race, £75 for the 26 mile race and £55 for the 16 mile race.
Participants may travel between Craven Arms and start locations using the Heart of Wales Line rail service. There is no organised transport from the finish. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
