Callow Fell Race
The Callow is a fell race held in Shropshire that forms part of the Winter Series. This event is classified as an AS category race. The course covers a distance of 8.1 km and features a total ascent of 762 meters.
The route begins near Little Stretton and includes four steep valley climbs. The race concludes with a fast descent toward the finish. Participants follow a path that includes a descent off Yearlet into Ashes Hollow. There is a cut-off point in Ashes Hollow after 1 hour and 15 minutes of racing. Runners who do not reach this point within the time limit are required to return to the finish and report in.
Race headquarters and registration are located at Little Stretton Village Hall. Registration is available via pre-entry or limited on-day entry. Participants must carry full mandatory kit as required by the WFRA. This includes waterproof tops and trousers with taped seams, a hat or buff, gloves, a compass, a whistle, food, and a map. GPS devices are not permitted for navigation purposes.
The event is recommended for those with previous fellrunning experience and mountain skills due to the nature of the terrain and limited marshaling. Awards are presented to the top three finishers in the men's and women's categories. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
