Hour to the Tower
Hour to the Tower is an hour-long, lap-based running event organised by West Edinburgh Running Club on Corstorphine Hill, Clermiston Road in Edinburgh. Runners complete as many marked laps as possible within one hour. Each lap is approximately 1 km of mixed trail and grass with about 60 m of ascent, taking participants from the base of the hill up to Corstorphine Hill Tower and back down to the start/finish area.
The event is Scottish Athletics licensed and is open to anyone aged over 18. Entry places are limited to 200. Entry fees are listed separately for Scottish Athletics members and non-members. The start/finish area also serves as a pit stop where runners may rest briefly between laps. Only fully completed laps count toward each competitor’s total. Competitors may begin a lap at any time before the 60 minute mark; laps started before the hour will count if completed even after the clock strikes the hour. The winner is the runner with the most completed laps; tied lap totals are resolved by arrival time back at the base.
Course details may be adjusted before race day for safety or to protect the local community and wildlife. After prize giving the tower will be open for runners and spectators to enter and climb. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
