About the race
The Horseshoe Valley Hustle Trail & Ultra Challenge takes place at Horseshoe Valley Resort in Barrie, Ontario on Saturday, October 31, 2026. The event uses resort property and a central start/finish area with onsite amenities, food and beverage options, washrooms, and free parking near the start.
Distances and formats include:
- Spooky Small Steps 1KM Halloween dash on non‑trail resort grounds, family friendly.
- 5KM trail run or walk on the resort's looped course.
- 10KM trail run completing two laps of the 5KM route.
- 8‑Hour Endurance Challenge solo or team relay on repeated 5KM laps. Team sizes: 2, 4, or 8.
The competition course is a 5KM loop of technical singletrack through dense forest, with rolling terrain, steep climbs and fast descents. Expect loose rocks, roots, uneven footing, and elevation gain. One aid station is located at the 2.5KM mark offering water, hydration and race‑day fuel; participants are encouraged to bring personal nutrition and hydration. Trail shoes are strongly recommended and weather‑appropriate layers are advised for variable October conditions.
Race timing uses chip timing. Bib pickup is required before starting and bibs must be visible on the front of the shirt. Costumes are encouraged and a Best Costume Award will be presented. The event supports the Child & Youth Advocacy Centre Simcoe Muskoka; a minimum donation applies to the 1KM dash. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
